Opening the hihat

A common way to add variation to your beats is to add hihat opings.

Try to play open (o) and closed (x) alternating. Remember to play all beats with your hand as well.

Don't lift your foot to high. A slight ease of pressure with your toes will actually do the trick. Try to get a hissing sound. Listen to the audio file for reference.
